General

All shows are run under Dressage Ireland Rules.  It is essential in the interest of safety that the directions of the stewards, the organisers and committee members are followed at all times. Competitors are expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting the sport. Rude and abusive behaviour towards people and/or animals will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Offenders risk a ban from Eastern Region shows.

Entries
Entries must be prepaid and in writing on official entry form
Entries received after closing date will be charged a late fee of €5 per entry.
All cheques must be made out to EASTERN REGION DRESSAGE please!
No phone entries. No text entries will be accepted under any circumstances!
Fax and email entries will NOT BE ACCEPTED.
The Committee reserve the right to hold a ballot on entries if deemed necessary.

Dressage Ireland members
€20 all classes for adult members.
€15 all classes for junior members of Dressage Ireland (under 18 1st January 2010)

Membership and horse registration numbers must be submitted with the entry form.

Non-members of Dressage Ireland
€25 all classes for adults
€20 all classes for juniors (under 18 1st January 2010)

Non-members of Dressage Ireland may compete at any show but will not be eligible for league points and may not compete in Finals or Championships. 
 Junior non-members may compete in Junior Preliminary and Junior Novice but will not be eligible for league points and may not compete in these classes in Finals or Championships
All non members will be required to complete a temporary membership form before competing.

Special training sections in our Preliminary and novice classes are being offered at Summer shows for non members. These act as a great introduction to the sport of Dressage.Non-members will be regarded as HC (Hors Concours) in registered Dressage classes.

Declaration
All competitors must declare at the show office prior to riding and collect their bridle number, showing their current membership card to the Secretary. Non-members of Dressage Ireland will be required to fill out and sign a Temporary Membership form. Members who fail to produce their card on the day will be required to do the same. No horse will be allowed to enter the warm up or competition arena without its correct bridle number.

Withdrawals
In the event of a competitor being unable to attend at any stage, including the day of the show, they must ring the show secretary and withdraw.
Failure to do so may incur a fine (as per DI rules) and refusal of entries for subsequent shows.

If weather conditions are particularly bad the committee reserve the right to cancel or abandon any show at short notice. If the weather is doubtful please phone 086-2581038  before leaving home.

TRAINING CLASS

An introduction to Dressage at Preliminary and Novice level for non-members of Dressage Ireland. Horses do not need to be registered with Dressage Ireland

EASTERN REGION LEAGUES

The following leagues will be run over the Winter and Summer shows.

Novice

Elementary

Advanced (Medium and above)

 The leagues are open to all Dressage Ireland members on registered horses and a horse/rider combination must take part in the same class in a minimum of 2 shows in order to be included in any of the leagues and league points will be awarded at every show, including the Winter Finals. A horse/rider combination’s best result on the day in any one grade will be used to award points in that league on the following basis:

Please note that league points have no bearing whatsoever on Dressage Ireland points.

 EASTERN REGION JUNIOR LEAGUE

A league will be run for junior members of Dressage Ireland entered in any classes during the winter and summer season

This league is open to riders aged 18 and under on 1 January 2010. Riders must be members of Dressage Ireland and horses/ponies must be registered to be eligible for this league. A horse/rider combination’s best result on the day, whether achieved in a Junior or registered class will be used to award points in that league on the following basis:

Please note that league points have no bearing whatsoever on Dressage Ireland points.

League tables will be on our website.

 

While no dressage grading points will be awarded in these classes please note that Dressage Ireland grading applies (i.e. a horse with Novice points may only do the Novice tests). A horse/rider combination must take part in a minimum of 2 shows in order to be included in the league. League points will be awarded at each show including the Winter Finals.

Note: It is not possible for Juniors to win league prizes in the adult league.

Note also that while non-members of Dressage Ireland under the age of 18 may compete in Junior classes at every show (except the Final) and receive placing rosettes they will not be included in the league.

 

 TRAINING BURSARIES

A total of 4 training bursaries worth €200 each will be awarded for riders from the Eastern Region 4 over the age of 18 who compete regularly at Eastern Region shows at Preliminary, Novice and Elementary level. To compete for these bursaries riders must attend a minimum of 6 shows over the Winter and Summer season plus the Regional Championships at the end of the summer season. Bursary winners will be determined at the Regional Championships on an adjusted percentage basis using the rider’s best score on the day. Winners of Training Bursaries in 2009 are not eligible to compete for these in 2010 but may compete again for bursaries in 2011.
